NEUROSURGERY IN KMH                                                                                                                                       The Department of Neurosurgery is one of the most well equipped centres in this part of the world.    It has been handling all varieties of cases in Neurosurgery including head injuries, brain tumours, and surgery on the spinal cord.    The highlight of the department is that it has the latest equipment to deal with all types of neurosurgical cases. It has the latest version Leica F -4 electromagnetic microscope,micro instruments, high power drill system to open the skull and the Capetown stereotactic system.   Micro surgery for brain and spinal cord are done using the finest facilities at very affordable costs. The advantage of the procedure is that the patient is mobilized on the second day after surgery and is able to get back to work by the tenth day following surgery. Being located in a strategic point the department has been instrumental in taking care and saving many lives involved in road traffic accidents. The neurosurgery department is also fortunate to have the supporting services of a full fledged radiology department with a digital multislice CT Scan and also service of an excellent intensivist team and intensive care unit. The department has charted out plans to expand its services by obtaining a Neuro navigation instrumentation in the near future to complement the existing neurosurgical service. The highlight of all cases dealt is a case of huge falx meningioma of 8 to 10 cms. in size extending into both sides of the brain.
